October is here.....Look what we're up to!!:) STRANGE FRUIT

7th Grade 1st period is working on Larger than Life Fruit. In this project we are developing an eye for scale, proportion, volume, texture and value.  We are using yarn and chalk to produce still life that "LIVES".  We are working on stayin neatly in the lines as we place the yarn strategically on one piece of fruit.  We are also growing as artists as we explore the right amount of pressure to put on our medium to produce  value changes.  We are learning how to distinguish lights from dark and how the light source affects where the shadow falls.  Here are some of our works...

Our 7th Grade second period class is developing an eye for contrast and creating works that depict contrast through backround forground creations, color analysis, tactile and implied texture and value changes.  Way to go 2nd period!!!!

Third Period 7th Grade is using only yarn and other tactile/actual texture to develop a still life.  They are doing a FANTASTIC job staying focused on a task that requires a lot of FOCUS and patience.  We are using yarn that is folded and cut into different sizes to produce these pieces.

ALL 7th grade class have begun a study on value.  Value is a study of lights and darks and the gradual transitions dark takes to become lighter.  We had a ball beginning a realism study of the face in which we used value to depict the depth of eyelids and the structure of facial features.  Take a look...

4th Period 8th grade is really shaping up!!!! We are also working on texture and creating parrots through the use of yarn and other contrasting materials.
